KENYA
Kenya is one of Africa's most magical countries...
Safari, Mountain Trekking and Project work with remarkable Maasai Communities - an adventurere's dream...
Kenya is a dream destination for exploration and discovery. It lies across the equator and offers great diversity in its geography and climate – dry bush and desert in the north, the vast central highlands and Rift Valley zone and the coast of the Indian Ocean to the west. With so much to explore, youll want to take at least two weeks (and preferably more) to give yourself a true taste of this remarkable country. There are many designated parks and reserves, rated among Africa's best and offering superb wildlife viewing.
With so much to explore, you should consider one of our longer expeditions to gain a true experience of Kenya. Your adventure will usually begin with a short acclimatisation period enriched by the sights, sounds and smells of Africa. You then tackle your chosen project work. We have developed links with several local projects, including school refurbishment, teaching support and community assistance. You will live amongst the Maasai community during this time in communal, basic but comfortable accommodation, learning the Kenyan way of life and the language in your everyday dealings with the locals. There will be breaks for trips to local safari parks, giving you the chance to see a huge variety of African wildlife including lion, rhino, elephant, giraffe, gazelle and zebra!
On completion of your project work we open up the adventurous phase of your expedition, including white water rafting, camel safari and a night under the stars as well as mountain biking and climbing Mount Kenya. At over 5000m (Africa's second highest mountain), Mount Kenya presents a formidable challenge with an ascent to Point Lenana, just below the summit. A truly worthwhile 5 day mountain experience.
